Event organiser visa assistance
How the Event Organiser can assist the IECN to fast track visa
applications for event participants
The IECN does not require personal details and registration payment
confirmation from Event Organisers about event participants who are
eligible to apply for an electronic (ETA 977) visa.
The IECN does require personal details and registration payment
confirmation from Event Organisers about event participants who must
lodge a visa application for a subclass 456 visa.
The following information refers to the liaison procedure that Event
Organisers should follow for subclass 456 event participants only. The
IECN can offer the Event Organiser (EO) additional assistance by liaising
with the post decision-maker processing the subclass 456 event
participant's visa application. For the IECN to offer this assistance,
EOs need to provide approved delegate lists of the subclass 456 visa
applicants only to the nearest departmental International Events
Coordinator to their place of business, confirming the delegates'
registration (and payment) to attend the particular event. The
locally-based IEC will then notify the relevant overseas posts and request
facilitation of the applicants' visa processing, if possible. As you are
located in Perth, I encourage you to contact our Perth IEC, Paul Davis.
Overseas inquiries can be made on 61 1300 550 684.
All subclass 456 visa applicants for events should note that event
registration does not guarantee visa grant. In order to be granted a visa
to visit Australia,a subclass 456 visa applicant must demonstrate that
they meet all the legislative requirements for visa grant, including
meeting the bona fide and character checks. Visa processing is stringent
and subclass 456 visa applicants are advised, in the current global
situation, to apply for a visa well in advance (4 - 6 weeks) of their
intended date of travel, if possible.
